\u201cDo stars die?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am asking because you said you are a physics teacher. Like human beings, stars will also die, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, everything in this universe will perish. Most stars take millions of years to die. When a star like the Sun has burned all of its hydrogen fuel, it may become a red giant mass. When massive stars die, they explode violently as supernovae. They leave either a neutron star or a black hole. Black holes swallow light so they are \u2018invisible\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happens when all stars die?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen all stars die, the universe will die. But what\u2019s that to do with Anantashayanam?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

I asked again: \u201cDo you know the current composition of the universe?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, 5% matter, 27% dark matter, and 68% dark energy. It is a vast space\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think universe exists in \u2018space\u2019 (or occupies \u2018space\u2019), but not only space, but time and matter also make up the universe.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are right. Cosmos are various manifestations of forms of energy. Both energy and matter become one there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the universe dies, will the energy remain? Energy can\u2019t be created or destroyed, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter all stars die, at last, this universe will only have lots of photons and dark energy. This is known as the heat death of the universe or the \u201cBig Freeze\u201d.<\/p>\n
